Abstract

This research, which aims to examine the opinions of teachers, the most important stakeholders of educational institutions, about organizational silence, was conducted using the phenomenological research model. In the study, the phenomenological research model was used to understand classroom teachers' experiences about organizational silence in educational institutions. In the study, in-depth interviews were conducted to collect teachers' opinions, feelings and perceptions about their experiences. The research was conducted with 15 classroom teachers who volunteered to participate in the research. Teachers are teachers who work in different educational institutions and have different seniorities. In-depth interviews were used for data collection. Data obtained from the interviews were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Findings from the interviews explain organizational silence as a combination of various factors. These factors are: lack of authority and trust, workload and time management difficulties, fear and rhetorical hesitation, lack of communication. According to teachers' opinions, organizational silence has negative effects on student achievement, workplace stress, motivation, team cooperation and management-staff relations.
