Abstract

The primary objective of the investigation is to ascertain the prevalence of criminal behavior among individuals who have grown up in single-parent households and the sociological, economic, and psychological factors that influence this phenomenon. In sociological dimensions, the impact of changes in family structure on the criminal tendencies and developmental processes of children is examined. Quantitative research methodologies were implemented in this investigation. The study employed a screening model to ascertain the propensity of individuals who were raised in single-parent households to engage in criminal activities. The sample of the study consists of individuals between the ages of 12-18 who are serving their sentences for crime in Sincan Juvenile Closed Penal Institution. The data of the study were obtained through literature review, fieldwork and analyses. Descriptive statistics and relationship tests (e.g. chi-square test) were used in the analysis of the data. The findings show that children growing up in single-parent families have an increased tendency to turn to crime due to the anomie and tensions brought about by the family structure. In addition, the role of a healthy family structure in the social and emotional development of individuals is emphasized. This study offers suggestions for the development of social policies and the establishment of support programs for single-parent families. The results of the study can guide the development of strategies to reduce juvenile delinquency.
