Abstract

While the effort to make an ontological sense of artificial intelligence continues in today's
philosophy, it is increasingly important to examine the examples of this subject in the history of philosophy. The Turing Test conducted by Alan Turing and the China Chamber thought experiment belonging to John Searle are very important because they are among the first in terms of quantity in the researches on artificial intelligence studies and they are in the nature of criticism of each other in quality. In the thought experiments in question, Turing has a positive attitude about the ability of artificial intelligence to think, while Searle explains both his opposition to Turing and why a machine that passes the Turing Test cannot be qualified as "thinking" with his own experiment. The reason for this is that while Alan Turing perceives the mind in a materialist framework, John Searle perceives the mind in the context of biological naturalism, which he is attributed as its representative and founder. The fact that the existing tests are shaped in different paradigms makes it very difficult to reach a consensus on the results. On the other hand, thought experiments and their philosophical approaches seem worth reworking, as they will provide new data for future research.
