Abstract

Vocational and technical education is a type of education that aims to train individuals in certain professions or technical fields. This type of education prepares students for the jobs the seeker is involved in, for the particular trade, occupation or occupation. Vocational education covers all professions and occupations from mechanics to handicrafts, from agriculture to health sector. However, various problems and difficulties can also arise in this type of training. This study, on the other hand, reviews the problem areas and current solution proposals in vocational and technical education based on the findings in the literature. According to the findings of previous studies, it has been determined that the workshops and laboratories are old and the training programs are theory-oriented. In addition, it has been determined that there are problems in school-industry cooperation and employment in the field where graduate students study. In this direction, it is recommended to update the curricula, increase the implementation capacity, increase the quality, strengthen the sectoral collaborations, offer training options in new vocational fields and encourage graduates to work in the fields they graduated from. In addition, it has been stated that revising vocational education programs according to vocational qualifications in line with employers' skill demands will positively affect the vocational education-employment relationship.
