Abstract

Internship applications enable students and their instructors to follow the developing technology in parallel with current and live applications. Internship applications, which enable students to communicate with businesses and help them to be employed in the rapidly changing and globalizing business world with the references they gain after graduation, have a great importance in vocational education. In this study, it is aimed to analyze the expectations of vocational and technical Anatolian High School students from internship training and the problems they encounter during the internship process. The study carried out with qualitative research methods is within the scope of the phenomenology model. The data of the research were obtained by using semi-structured interview questions prepared by the researcher. The interview form was applied to 15 students studying at vocational and technical Anatolian High Schools in Batman. The obtained data were analyzed using the MAXQDA program. At the end of the research, it was seen that the students had expectations such as gaining professional experience from internship training, understanding the working environment and culture, discovering their talents and earning wages. In addition, it has been determined that students encounter problems in areas such as excessive workload, disregard for interns, training and guidance, theory and practice incompatibility, insufficient feedback and adaptation problems during the internship process.
