Abstract

All teachers have different beliefs about their work, their students, their subjects, their roles and responsibilities. Pedagogical beliefs of preschool teachers include their understanding of education, beliefs and values about teaching and learning processes. These beliefs affect how teachers behave in the classroom, how they approach students, and how they direct the learning process. This study reviews previous research on teachers' pedagogical belief systems in the education of early childhood children. In this study, which is a compilation, the literature about the pedagogical belief systems of teachers in the education of early childhood children has been meticulously examined and the issues deemed important are presented with the support of the literature. Based on the results, teachers classified their teaching beliefs into one of two categories: teacher-centered beliefs and student-centered beliefs.. It has also been observed that preschool teachers' pedagogical beliefs affect the teacher's classroom practices, student communication and teaching strategies.
