The Effect of Programmed Educational Guidance Services on Secondary School Students' Test Anxiety

Nowadays, it is frequently observed that the level of success decreases due to many psychological problems that develop due to test anxiety. It is possible to relieve this exam anxiety with educational guidance services. The aim of this study is to investigate how much the exam anxiety experienced by 7th and 8th grade students can be relieved by educational guidance services. Causal-comparative model and relational screening model were used in the research. The population of the research includes 7th and 8th grade students studying at Vakıfbank Atatürk Secondary School. Among the students whose anxiety level was above the reference value as a result of the scale, volunteers participated in the study. Thus, 50% of the students participating in the study were in the 7th grade (n = 15); 50% of them are 8th grade students (n=15). In the study, a Personal Information Form containing demographic information about the students was used as a data collection tool, and the Test Anxiety Inventory was used to measure their exam anxiety. The data were analyzed by entering the SPSS package program. The t test was used to compare 2 dependent and independent groups. ANOVA test was used in groups containing more than 2 data. The suitability of the data for normal distribution was analyzed with the Shaphirowilk test. For statistical significance, p<0.05 was accepted as the reference value. Then, educational guidance services will be provided to students with high test anxiety levels, and pre-test and post-test results will be compared. A significant level of statistics is expected.
